For over thirty years Big Bad Voodoo Daddy has been thrilling audiences with their own take on American Swing and Jazz Music and around the holiday season the band brings their Wild & Swingin’ Holiday Party to the road with their unique spin on holiday music. They also have two albums of Christmas music that along with a selection of classic holiday songs makes up the bulk of the highly entertaining show.

Buffalo based English singer-songwriter, musician and producer Steve Bell has released a new four song EP with the title A Simple Fourtune. Bell is the consummate DIY musician on this one handling all the songwriting, instruments and production on the record. He recorded the tracks at Tense Up Studios in Tonawanda between 2024 and 2025. The latest album from singer songwriter Willie Nile titled The Great Yellow Light features ten songs from the pen of one of America’s finest songwriters. For this album Nile convened to Hobo Sound in Weehawken, NJ with his ace band consisting of Johnny Pisano on bass, Jon Weber on drums and Jimi K. Four time Grammy winning drummer, producer, songwriter and Buffalo Music Hall of Fame inductee Tom Hambridge has released a new album titled Down the Hatch a twelve song batch of original Hambridge tunes. For this album Hambridge brought along some of his friends including Rob McNelley (Bob Seger), Tom Bukovac (Joe Walsh), Bob Britt (Bob Dylan), and long time pal Buddy Guy on guitar; Glenn Worf (Mark Knopfler), Tommy MacDonald (Johnny Winter) and Anton Nesbitt (BeBe & CeCe Winans) on bass; Mike Rojas (The Black Keys), ace session man Kevin McKendree (Brian Setzer) and Noah Forbes on keyboards, Tim Lauer (The Smashing Pumpkins) on accordion and Tom on drums, vocals and percussion. Hambridge is a master songwriter having written over one thousand published songs and he has produced and played on over one hundred albums. Roots and blues singer songwriter Randy Lee Riviere has released his fourth solo album and it’s a collaboration with Buffalo born Grammy winner Tom Hambridge titled Farmhand Blues a gritty fifteen song selection. Backing Riviere (guitars/vocals) are Hambridge (drums/percussion/backing vocals) and session aces Doug Lancio (guitar), Bob Britt (guitar), Michael Saint-Leon (guitar/harmonica), Mike Rojas (keys) and Robert Kearns (bass). The Lucky Losers have released a new album titled Arrival, the sixth from this San Francisco based group. Led by Cathy Lemons and Phil Berkowitz the duo has been churning out award winning music for a decade now. Lemons (vocals) and Berkowitz (vocals/harmonica) team up once again with Grammy winning guitarist and producer Kid Andersen (guitar/bass/keys) along with Chris Burns (keys), Simon Govan Smith (guitar), Edgar San Gabriel (bass) and John Otis (drums/percussion). Guests include Danny Caron (guitar), Endre Tarczy (bass), Paul Revelli (drums), Doug James (Tenor Sax), Mike Rinta (trombone) and John Halbieb (trumpet). Singer songwriter and keyboardist Dave Keyes has released a new album titled Two Trains an eclectic mix of roots, blues, country, Gospel and funk. A forty-year veteran of the music world Keyes has worked with Levon Helm, Poppy Chubby, Ronnie Spector, David Johansen, Odetta, Bo Diddley, Lou Rawls and Darlene Love to name but a few of the artists he has worked with over the years. Singer/songwriter/cornetist and master storyteller and blues man Al Basile has released a new album titled Blues in Hand a thirteen-song set featuring his signature vocals and cornet playing. Basile is backed by some of the best for these sessions including members of Duke Robbillard’s band and Roomful of Blues alumni Mark Teixeira (drums), Brad Hallen (bass), Bruce Bears (keyboards), Jeff “Doc” Chanonhouse (trumpet) and Doug James (Tenor Sax) and was recorded at the friendly confines of Westlake Recording Studios in West Greenwich, Rhode Island. This album’s lyric’s features more first-person accounts than previous albums and more and longer coronet solos from Basile. British bluesman Oli Mac has released a new album under his alter ego Mississippi MacDonald titled Slim Pickin’ a ten-song set of mostly acoustic style blues numbers. Mac who handles vocals, guitar and piano here is assisted by longtime band mate Phil Dearing who produced the album and adds guitar and keyboards and Nashville session ace Brent Cundall on bass. A mix of originals and some classic cover tunes, highlights off Slim Pickin’ include the tight bluesy groove of “Trouble Doing the Right Thing”, the New Orleans vibe of the title cut “Slim Pickin’”, the brooding “My Bad Attitude”, the heartfelt and remorseful “I’m Sorry” the bluesy saloon ballad “Sad Songs” and the positive message of “You Can Love Yourself”. Compilation albums are always a fun way to check out a wide ranging and diverse selection of music and or artists. The latest compilation to do just that is Jacktown USA-The Capital City of American Music which takes a look at Jackson, Mississippi and its contribution to American Music. The project also features a prominent book highlighting the artists and their music. The album features a mix of young and older artists all representing the rich heritage of the state of Mississippi. Tracks of note include the finger snapping Do-Wop inflected soul number “Hold Up” from Jacktown Sons, the percolating and funky “Hooked” by Dexter Allen, the churchy chicken pickin’ blues number “Delivered by The Blues” by Eddie Cotton, the smooth blues shuffle “Juke Joint Lover” from Stevie J. Minnesota bluesman Mark Cameron has released his ninth album titled Blues Factory. One of New Zealand’s brightest blues rock bands BB & The Bullets have released their debut album titled High Tide a twelve song mix of original compositions and a collection of blues classics. Blues singer Robbin Kapsalis was born in Chicago but raised in Atlanta. She soaked up both the blues and Southern soul styles in her formative years and developed her own raw yet sweet vocal sound. For her latest album titled The Blues Is In The House she traveled to France where she found some of the best blues artists from Nantes to record these sessions. The band consisting of Francois Nicolleau on guitar, Nicolas Deshayes also on guitar, Giles Robson on harmonica, Arnaud Gobin on bass and Cyril Durand on drums are well versed in American blues and deliver flawlessly throughout the album.
