Gurf Morlix-Melt Into You-
Gurf Morlix
-Melt Into You-

The latest album from Gurf Morlix titled Melt Into You is a nine song collection of greasy, gritty and seductive music as only he can create. Morlix, a member of the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame (Class of 2005), recorded the album at his own Rootball Studio in Austin, TX and plays all the instruments , produces, turns the knobs and cleans the studio too. Morlix is a masterful songwriter both musically and lyrically with themes on this album of love, sadness and introspective musings all delivered with his quirky, cynical and worldly perspective. Musically he delivers his signature electric guitar style and his inventive percussion techniques throughout the album. Highlights from Melt Into You include the dirty groove of “Switchblade Smile”, “Beautiful Sad Face” with its beguiling simplicity, the lo-fi stomper and title cut “Melt Into You”, the Eastern Mystic vibe of “Sand”, the quirky rocker “Last Days of the Dinosaur”, the ‘60’s psychedelic New Wave feel of “In the Name of Love” and the contemplative and mournful “A Meaningless Life”. We know at this point it is redundant to say that the latest album from Gurf Morlix Melt Into you is another great one from him but we’ll say it anyway. To find out more about Gurf Morlix and his great new album Melt Into You visit him at www.gurfmorlix.com or at www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063005119839

For his latest album Burt has decided to pay honor to one of his biggest influences Bill Withers with an album of his music titled Thank You Brother Bill-A Tribute to Bill Withers. Highlights from Thank You Brother Bill include the funky strutting “Who is He (and What Is He To You)?”, the powerful “I’m Her Daddy”, the brooding “Grandma’s Hands”, the stark and mournful “Hope She’ll Be Happier” and renditions of “Just The Two of Us”, “Lean on Me” and “Ain’t No Sunshine”. Sylvia Tyson-At the End of the Day-
Sylvia Tyson
-At the End of the Day-

Beloved Canadian artist Sylvia Tyson has returned after a ten year hiatus of recording on her own to unfortunately record her final album titled At the End of the Day. She was part of the groundbreaking duo Ian & Sylvia that were one of the most influential artists on the burgeoning Greenwich Village folk scene of the ‘50’s and ‘60’s. They championed Bob Dylan and Gordon Lightfoot by recording those artist songs before they became household names. At 83 years old life on the road no longer beckons to her though her musical instincts are sharp as ever as evidenced on the new album. Musicians assisting Tyson on this album are Davide DiRenzo on drums, Charles James on bass, Jason Fowler on guitar, John Sheard on piano, Drew Jurecka on violin/mandolin and Denis Keldie and Mark LaLama both on accordion and Hammond B3 organ. The twelve tracks of folk country musings on At the End of the Day are filled with lilting melodies and exquisite instrumentation highlighted by the sweet melancholy tale of love “Sweet Agony”, the Honky Tonkin’ blues number “Now Tell Me you Got The Blues”, the jaunty “Cynical Little Love Song”, the title track “At the End of the Day”, the beautiful instrumental album closer “Janet’s Garden” and the lamentable “I Never Got Over You”. Stephen Marley-Old Soul-
Stephen Marley
-Old Soul-

Stephen Marley eight times Grammy Award winning singer songwriter and son of musical prophet and visionary Bob Marley has returned with his first full length album in seven years titled Old Soul. Marley recorded the tracks during Covid lockdown when he set up a recording studio on a remote family farm in Florida. It was there that he would hold nightly jam sessions playing whatever he felt like from Reggae, jazz to pop and rock classics. These unplugged sessions turned into the Old Soul album. Because of this many of the songs have a Mento influence which is a traditional form of Jamaican music predating Reggae, SKA and Dancehall style and shows the diversity of Stephen Marley’s music. Marley also invited many guests to the sessions including brothers Ziggy and Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, the legendary Jamaican artist Buju Banton, Kyle McDonald from Slightly Stoopid, Eric Clapton and Bob Weir, Jack Johnson and Wolf Brothers. Highlights among the fourteen tracks on Old Soul include the hypnotic opening track “Don’t You Believe”, the laid back “Cool As The Breeze”, the autobiographical title cut “Old Soul”, “Thanks We Get (Do Fi Dem)” with Buju Banton and powered by a sunny breezy melody that belie the lyrics of oppression, “Cast The First Stone” with Jr. Gong, “There’s A Reward” with Ziggy, the country spiritual number “Winding Roads” featuring Weir, Johnson and Wolf Bros., an acoustic “I Shot The Sheriff” with Clapton adding his signature guitar work, a cover of Frank Sinatra’s “These Foolish Things (Reminds Me Of You)” made over with a SKA beat, an amazing cover of The Beatles “Don’t Let Me Down” with a Reggae beat and a sweet cover of Ray Charles’ “Georgia On My Mind”. He decided to follow his dream and the result is his debut album Cassius King and The Downtown Rulers-Last Call For The Blues. The Downtown Rulers, Chalo Ortiz-guitar, Chris White-bass and J.R. Lozano-drums, are of some of the hottest West Coast musicians and add powerful backing for King who handles keyboards and vocals. The four members wrote four of the five tracks here and recorded the album at Sonic Rock Studio in Fallbrook, CA with Grammy Award winning producer Dave Darling. Highlights from Last Call For The Blues include the soulful tale of no regrets “Do It All Again”, the funky percolating “Feel Good Music”, the heavy bottom blues rocker “Better Man Blues”, the slow blues moan title cut “Last Call For The Blues” and a greasy cover of Johnny Taylor’s “If You Love Me’. Cassius King and The Downtown Rulers debut album Last Call For The Blues is sure to be the first of many from this top notch group.
