Making
their third area appearance in the last seven months and their second
at the Hard Rock Café in Niagara Falls, NY rock band The Pretty
Reckless invaded the Cataract City on February 25th, 2011 to play a
show for a large contingent of their rabid fans. Led by Taylor Momsen
(Jenny Humphrey on the TV show Gossip Girl) and backed by her more than
competent band of Ben Phillips on guitar, Mark Damon on bass and Jamie
Perkins on drums they are out touring behind their new CD Light Me Up.
Their sixty minute set featured selections from the new release and
their previous self titled EP. Unfortunately sound problems marred the
first two songs "Since You're Gone" and "Light Me Up"
prompting the band to have the crowd chant along with them and shout
to their sound man "Ron you're fired!". All in jest I'm sure.
Maybe.
After getting the sound straightened out
the band rolled thru a high decibel exuberant set with "Miss Nothing",
"Zombie", "My Medicine", Factory Girl" and
the encore "Make Me Wanna Die" as standouts. Momsen also invited
several of the ladies in the crowd on stage to dance with her on a couple
of songs.
Opening the show were two up and coming
bands. Runner Runner from Huntington Beach, California playing a set
of So-Cal alternative pop rock and the more impressive A Thousand Horses
from Nashville who turned in a set of Southern styled soulful rock.
