While the LAKE guides are a compass to the vast timeless rock catalog over the airwaves; the LIGHTHOUSE Rock Report will be a vessel to a more in depth scope to the artists and their music. Each month we will bring you a cargo of interviews, local and national concert previews with photos, and a cool current of what is news in Rock and Roll. We look forward to setting sail with the LAKE listener ship.

ALBUM Preview: ALICE COOPER
"Welcome 2 My Nightmare"

HOLE IN ONE….This past August the King of menacing musical macabre, ALICE COOPER invaded the shores of Lake Erie's Harbor front with his ghastly theatrics to the delight of a monster crowd.
The Sinister showman unleashed his fury performing the classics that garnered Vincent Damon Furnier (Cooper's Birth name) his rightful place in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this past year.
Just a few short weeks after his visit COOPER would drop the guillotine on "Welcome 2 My Nightmare" to the music masses; naturally the veteran performer would pick the perfect time of the year to once again tap into our terrors as the nights grow longer, darker & colder.
The sequel to the 1975 "Welcome to My Nightmare" has been over thirty-five years in the making and screams vintage COOPER with his brew of epic arrangements & Hard Rock backdrop and angst evoking lyrics.
ALICE once again chose not to revisit his Nightmare alone teaming up with producer Bob Ezrin; COOPER Explains, "This is "Alice's Nightmare 35 years later, Bob & I created this character and we know how to write for him. While I play the part we're not writing for me, we're writing for ALICE. We kept the first Nightmare Album very personal to us, with this one we found more humor and were much more open. This was our world and we wanted to present it to our fans. The original album was my first solo Album after all those huge hit records with the original band and now the nightmare is exposed, this one can be a little bit more open. The music crosses all sorts of boundaries; we went were the lyrics took us.
To recapture the authentic spirit of the reoccurring Nightmare COOPER enlisted original band members Denis Dunaway, Michael Bruce & Neal Smith for three tacks as well as guitarist Steve Hunter who was also featured prominently in the original Nightmare.
COOPER crosses the musical spectrum opening the record with the epic track "I' am made of You"; ALICE stares, what was almost the death of music, in the face giving the single digit salute to the disco era with "Disco Bloodbath Boogie Fever".
The 63 year old proves he's still hip with a few tricks & treats up his sleeve with "What Baby Wants" as Pop Superstar KE$HA, who affectionately calls ALICE "Dad", chimes in on the bawdy dance duet. COOPER declares; "I think a lot of my audience is going to go KE$HA?, but she probably wrote the most wicked lyrics in the song - we had to rein her in. I like people to know that just because artists are put in a pigeon hole, that doesn't mean that's what they are, Give people a little room" .
Heads off to ALICE as the veteran performer puts the single song download generation Bands to shame with yet another compelling concept Album; music should be creating a magnetic moment that stands the test of time not a trendy singular thought that has no staying power.
After touring the States this past summer COOPER continues the "No More Mr. Nice Guy" Tour abroad through the end of November.
