-Alone - Solo Acoustic- |
CD Review - By Bob Silvestri
Longtime veteran of the local blues scene Willie May has returned with another disc this titled Alone-Solo Acoustic. As the title will attest its just May and his guitar and the intimate performance give the twelve tracks a raw demo feel. His husky vocals ala Levon Helm of the Band and great guitar work keeps the pace lively and never delves into repetitiveness. Lots of good stuff here including "Heartbreak", "Blues Parade", "I Got the Blues Today" and "You Know I'm Lying". The track "Everybody But Me" delivers a nice punch line at the end of the song, the foreboding hollow sound of "Gloria" is a keeper as is "Lookin' For Jesus" as May details his personal quest with the lyric " I'm lookin' for Jesus , I hope he don't find me here." .
