A
brave and hearty crowd battled the cold and snowy elements for a concert
by singer songwriter Shawn Colvin at The Tralf Music Hall on January 23rd.
Performing solo on acoustic guitar to per mote her new CD These Four Walls
she turned in a seventy five minute set of old and new songs. An engaging
storyteller as well, she reeled off anecdotes about touring, children,
the Academy Awards as well as the demise of the compact disc. Highlights
from the new CD included “Summer Dress”, the beautiful sounds of “That
Don’t Worry Me Now” a collaboration with John Leventhal, “I’m Gone” and
the title cut “These four Walls”. Older favorites “Wichita Skyline” and
“Sunny Came Home” were warmly greeted also. A three song encore included
“I Don’t
Know Why” and “Diamond In The Rough”. Opening the show was Buffalo singer
songwriter Noa Bursie who proved to be the perfect compliment to the evening.
Performing a brief five song set she revealed she had purchased tickets
for the show before being asked to be the opening act. Bursie even received
praise from Shawn Colvin during Colvin’s own set, something not done often
by the headlining act. For more information about the artists go to www.noabursie.com
