bobsilvestri@bestofwny.com It’s
hard to believe that in a career that has spanned over fifty years Sam
Myers has never released a solo disc. Until now. His first solo CD titled
“Coming From The Old School” is aptly named as Myers is truly from the
old school of legendary blues artists. He has played with them all from
his stint as harmonicist with Elmore James to his current outfit Anson
Funderburgh and The Rockets arguably the best blues outfit around today.
Recorded in Toronto with help from Mel Brown, Jack de Keyzer and others
the fourteen tracks feature Myers’ impeccable harp playing and unique vocal
dynamics. Standout tracks include “I Got A Thing For The Voodoo Woman”,
“I Got The Blues”, “Money Is My Downfall”, “After Hours When The Joint
Is Closed” and the awesome “Let You Slowly Bring You Down” all penned by
Myers. For more info go to www.electrofi.com
