Take an adventure down the musical road with the latest release from Salt
Peter titled NaNo3.
Fusing The
Red Hot Chili Peppers funk, Jane’s Addiction’s alterative snap, Zappa’s
unbridled wit, Talking Head’s multi culturalism and acid jazz jam band
sensibilities the band (Anthony Aversa- guitar/vocals), Christopher Collesano
(drums/background vocals), James Colquitt (bass/background vocals) and
Robert Tweedie (keys/samples/background vocals) has forged their own unique
sound. “Just Like An Angel” a seven-minute funk groove excursion kicks
thing off with the band deep in the pocket rhythmically. “I Amuse Myself”
shows Aversa to be a stellar guitarist with ska chords and a scorching
mid song solo. The muted trumpet sounds of “Love Canal Real Estate” gives
the perfect dismal feel to the sad state of affairs surrounding that mess.
The politically charged “Placebo Republic” hints at the mess government
can cause to their own people. The delightful “Officer Buzzkill” is self-explanatory
as everyone has run into his or her own officer at one time. The quirky
rhythm adds dimension to the song as well. Other tracks of merit include
“The Real Deal”, “It’s Not You”, “Block The Urge” and “Cognitive Dissonance”.
