The acoustic duo No Effect (Carl Accordion and Dean Bell) has released
a new CD titled “Song Garden”. The ten songs flow with influences ranging
from acoustic blues master John Hammond to the sweet style of Leo Kottke
to the vocal harmonizing of Buffalo Springfield and The Byrds. “Padre Holiday”
features a mix of electric and acoustic guitars complementing and not competing
with each other. “Tear Me Down” features a memorable hook and guitar solo.
“The First Time” is the most rounded song on the disc as the duo introduces
drum programming, giving it a more full band sound. “Long Way Down” features
harmonica from Bell and is an outstanding cut as is the track “Wanted Man”.
Rounding out the disc are “Shot In The Dark”, “Dancing Angel”, “Better
Days”, “This Time” and “Palm Of My Hand”. All ten tracks are quiet introspective
songs, rich with melody and intricate guitar work. For more on No Effect
