Following in the footsteps of other woman fronted bands such as Blondie, Universal Honey and The DiVinyls is the self titled debut from Morningwood. Hailing from NYC the band is fronted by Chantal Claret along with bassist Pedro Yanowitz (ex-Wallflowers), guitarist Richard Steel (ex-Spacehog) and drummer Japa Keenon (ex Cibo Matto). The loud unabashed swagger is evident throughout the eleven tracks and is a welcome sound to the music scene. Their take no prisoners’ attitude is evident on the tracks “Take Off Your Clothes”, “New York Girls”, “Nu Rock” and “Nth Degree”.
