-self titled- |
CD Review - By Bob Silvestri
Buffalo Music Award winner, reality TV star, Memphis Bound winner and numerous other accolades, Mick Hayes seems to do it all. His stellar new self titled release shows the incendiary guitarist coming into his own as a performer and artist. Hayes and his band mates Todd Mazurek on drums and David Frost on bass get help in the studio from the likes of JJ Moscato, Buffalo Music Hall of Fame member Jim Ehinger, drummer Al Hury and vocalists Caitlin Koch and Amy Frost. At times Hayes comes across like blues rock belter Paul Rodgers of Free and Bad Company fame on the tracks "A Blues with No Name" and "She's Got Demons" or a blue eyed soul crooner on the outstanding "Untitled (Hope in My Dreams)". His mastery of the guitar shines on "Poor Excuse for a Man" and "Sugary" on which Hayes give a tutorial on slide guitar. "Woman Who Drink (Way Too Much)", "Maria" and "The Honeymoon is Over" bear repeated listens as well. The Mick Hayes Band is the real deal, check them out at www.mickhayesbamd.com |
