Anytime someone calls themselves, legendary or a legend, usually its a rather large boast to live up to but Mission Statement, the new CD from Jim Neyerlin and the Legends lives up to the billing. The band, Jim Neyerlin (piano/keys/pennywhistle/vocals), Doug Tyler (guitars), Joy Batkin (violin), Chris Klimecko (keys/acoustic guitars), John Lynch (drums) and Tom Keefer (bass/mandolin/acoustic guitar) have a contemporary sound on line with The Band or Bruce Hornsby. The wide-open rambling sound of “More Of The Same” kicks things off. “Autumn” has a Celtic feel which is evident throughout the disc with violins, mandolins and pennywhistles adding to the mix. Another constant throughout the disc is the excellent guitar work of Doug Tyler and the added dimension he brings to the songs. This is evident on the track “American Dream”.
