CD Review - By Bob
Silvestri
bobsilvestri@bestofwny.com Jann Klose was chosen to be the showcase artist at the 2007 Buffalo Music Awards. And for good reason. His performance that evening led him to be asked back to play a couple of more shows and establish a follow in Western New York. He took a very roundabout way to get here. Born in Germany, he was raised in Kenya and South Africa before moving to Ohio and eventually settling down in New York City. All of those places seem to have influenced his music on his latest disc Reverie. He gets his Reggae groove going on the track "Hold Me Down", mixes accordion and organ for a European flair to "Doing Time" and adds Hugh Masakela horn riffs to "Clouds". The beautiful instrumental "Ithaca" is a slow piano and oboe duet over brushed drums and an upright bass backup. For more on Jann Klose check out www.jannklose.com |
