CD Review - By Bob
Silvestri
bobsilvestri@bestofwny.com Hamburg, NY native and Buffalo Music Hall of Fame member Gurf Morlix has released his fourth CD this one called Diamonds To Dust. Long based in Austin, TX Morlix recorded the disc with help from Rick Richards (drums), Ray Bonneville (harmonica) and Patty Griffin (harmony vocals) at his own Rootball Studios. Morlix handled the rest of the instruments including his signature guitar work. He wrote all the tracks here except "Killin' Time in Texas" co-written with upstart Troy Campbell and "Madalyn's Bones" written with Brende Fuller. The lone cover among the eleven cuts here is an authoritative version of Bob Dylan's "With God on Our Side". Other tracks to ponder along with the afore mentioned are "Blanket", "I've Got a Passion" and "Need to Know". You can get more information at www.gurfmorlix.com |
