On
her second release titled Miles Away, L.A. based singer songwriter Gina
Villalobos offers an earthy mix of country rock featuring her infectious
raspy vocals and lots and lots of guitars. Already a hit in the UK and
Europe Villalobos is now getting raves back home. After a serious accident
left her blind in her right eye she immersed her self in her craft with
a bona fide confidence. She delivers the goods here in spades on the tracks
"Somebody Save Me", "Face on the Sheets", the title track "Miles Away"
and "Don't Defeat Me". Outstanding here is her take on the Bee Gees classic
from Saturday Night Fever "If I Can't Have You". Villalobos turns it into
a classic country weeper and the song has never sounded better. Helping
Villalobos on the disc include Kevin Haaland-guitars, Ben Pringle-organ,
Sean Caffey-pedal steel, J'anna Jacoby-violin, Ian Walker-bass and Anthony
Zimmitti-drums. For more on Gina Villalobos check out www.ginavillalobos.com
