bobsilvestri@bestofwny.com In a short time Buffalo band 716 has made quite a buzz with their live shows and solid showing at this years Emergenza Festival. The band offers a unique mix of musicians each bringing a different element to the music. Lead vocalist Christina Reilly has a tough vulnerability to her voice and is a pleasure to hear her sing. The rhythm section of Scott Calandra (drums) and Matthew Castronova (bass) keep it tight whether playing blues, jazz, rock or reggae. Jamie Dinero (sax/keyboards) comes from a classical music background and helps to balance the sound with her musical range. Guitarist Joe Pinnavaia adds textures and tone in the right places and makes his point with tight concise playing. The four song EP features the reggae vibe of “Simple”, the jazzy “Pre-Marital Sax” and the rock sounds of “Raise It Up”. The highlight is the bluesy jazz sounds of “Lady in Waiting” with its smoky vocals from Christina Reilly. For more on 716 check out www.716band.com |
