What
a great way to kick off the Holiday season as a packed Club Infinity was
treated to a fantastic show on December 23rd celebrating the release of
the new CD from The Dave Constantino Band. Joined by Ted and Tom Reinhardt,
arguably the best rhythm section ever in Buffalo, the band ripped thru
a set of cuts from the new release as well as some classic blues and rock
numbers. Constantino’s lean yet muscular fret work shined on “Where You
Hidin’”, “Pain In My Heart” and the title cut from the CD “Bump In The
Road”. A cover of Hendrix’s “Manic Depression” also achieved high marks.
Longtime musical collaborator Willie Haddath also made an appearance to
add his signature slide guitar sounds to
the evening. Special guest Billy Sheehan took over duties on the bass for
the encores and took the night to an incredible conclusion. There is no
other way to say it. The man is a monster on the bass. He is able to coax
notes out of his instrument like no other man alive. Since their days in
Talas they have always been the perfect musical foil to each other. While
Sheehan now toils on the national stage he seamlessly meshes anytime he
and Constantino play together. Watching their musical interplay, evident
of their love of playing music together, was magical and is one of those
moments only live music can bring you. Versions of “Sunshine Of Your Love”,
“Helter Skelter” and “Goin’ Down” were jaw dropping amazing. It appeared
the night was over but after some jovial coaxing from Sheehan they returned
to play “Crossroads” and a blistering version of the Raven tune “Neighbor,
Neighbor”. (Thanks Dave) Opening the show was Johnny Angel from the legendary
band Rockcandy. Making his first Western New York appearance in fifteen
years his acoustic set of songs about love, death, dreams and fears was
warmly greeted. For more information check out www.daveconstantinoband.com
