Chuck
Leavell possesses one of the finest resumes in the annals of rock music.
From his stint as the keyboardist for the Allman Brothers Band to his pioneering
outfit Sea Level to his current gig as live musical director for The Rolling
Stones he has left his mark on the world of music. In between he has found
the time to release an impressive solo CD titled Southscape. A tribute
to his beloved South and home spread in Georgia you can almost smell the
peach blossoms and Cherokee roses oozing from the songs. Mixing his
signature keyboard sound from his Allman and Sea Level days with a little
Steely Dan and soft jazz, Leavell shines on the tracks “Tomato Jam”, “Altamaha”
and the title track “Southscape”. He conjures up a cool Southern breeze
on “Savannah” and plies his slower soft jazz side on the tracks “Ashley”
and “Cherokee Wind”. Also included is a reworking of the Allman Brothers
classic “Jessica”. You can find out more about the great talents of Chuck
