Out
on the road in celebration of the thirtieth anniversary of the release
of their multi million selling record, Parallel Lines, are Blondie who
stopped by The Events Center at The Seneca-Niagara Casino in Niagara Falls
on June 14th 2008. At the time the record was ground breaking as the new
wave punk scene was just exploding in the States led by Blondie and others.
Blondie is the name of the band but also stands for front woman Debbie
Harry. Harry, she of the impeccably high cheek bones and blonde mane was
the fraulein fantasy of millions of teenage boys in the late seventies
and early eighties and still packs a wallop in the charisma department.
Parallel Lines has held up just as well as Miss Harry as the band played
the entire disc from start to finish. Kicking off with the one two punch
of "Hanging on the Telephone" and "One Way or Another" one of the best
opening two song salvo on any record, the songs still sounded fresh, sexy
and dangerous. "Fade Away and Radiate", "Heart of Glass" and "I'm Gonna
Love You Too" were standouts as well. Actually, "I'm Gonna Love You Too"
stole the show and showed Miss Harry has lost nothing in the voice department.
After finishing their run thru of Parallel Lines they played some of their
other hits including "Rapture" and "Call Me" before closing their set with
"The Tide is High". Definitely not an oldies or nostalgia act here. Blondie
still has the chops. For more great upcoming shows at The Seneca-Niagara
