CD Review - By Bob Silvestri

Anya
Marina has toiled as an actress, a successful San Diego DJ and other
professions all while trying to further a career in music. Her break
came with the inclusion of her track "Move You (SSSPII)" in
an episode of the hit television show Grey's Anatomy. That track and
eleven more are featured on Marina's third release Slow & Steady
Seduction: Phase II. Channeling her inner Liz Phair/Kim Deal persona
she wrote or co-wrote all but one track here while also handling guitar
and vocals. With whispery soft vocals Marina comes across as lascivious
and bratty at once. An interesting combination to say the least. Keepers
here include "All The Same To Me", "Afterparty at Jimmy's",
"Cowboys" and the Antonio Carlos Jobim penned "Waters
of March (Aguas de Marco)". Two other outstanding cuts are "Drop
Dead Blues" and "High on the Ceiling" both produced by
Britt Daniels of Spoon. Go to www.anyamarina.com
