CD Review - By Bob
Silvestri
bobsilvestri@bestofwny.com Good to Go-Go is the title of twelve new tracks from international superstars and Buffalo Music Hall of Fame members Spyro Gyra. While some of the faces have changed over the twenty five year history of the band the constant have always been Jay Beckenstein and Tom Schuman on sax and keyboards respectively. Rounding out the band these days are Julio Fernandez on guitar, Scott Ambush on bass and Bonny B on drums. While the band stays close to their signature sound they get almost Steely Dan-ish on "Simple Pleasure", explore a reggae vibe on "Jam Up (Bonaparte)" complete with some scat dub from Bonny B. Other tracks to give a listen to are "The Left Bank", "Funkyard Dog", "Wassup!" and "A Winter Tale" with some impressive Schuman piano work. For more information check out www.spyrogyra.com |
